Get a good basic skateboard tricks list here.

Basic skateboard tricks: I was thinking about my site recently. I know I want to help people learn a bit about skateboarding through the site. I thought about how I have a trick tips page. I’m excited to have the page available for you, but at the same time I want to offer more!

So, I was thinking back to when I started skateboarding. I was sort of lost and confused by all the different tricks there are. So I figured I could put together a sort of basic skateboard tricks list. I will give you a few ideas on how to get started and what direction to go in. Don’t get it confused with the trick tips. Visit the trick tips page if you want a detailed explanation on how to do a certain trick.

So, on to the basic skateboard tricks list. Of course when you begin skateboarding you first need to learn how to push. Then you’ll need to learn how to ollie. If you can do both of these things you are on track to learn your first few tricks. But wait! There’s so many tricks, how do you know where to start you ask? I’ll give you an example by explaining my progression and then I’ll give you a few suggestions on how to learn your first few tricks.

After I learned how to ollie I started to work on 180s. Then I move on to shove its. Then I learned kickflip and heelflip. Next came variel flip. These are pretty straight forward tricks. I would begin the same way with these tricks if I had to start over again.

After those tricks I learned backside 180s, frontside shove its, and how to land all of these in a fakie stance. Next I moved onto combining tricks. I learned big spins, 180 kickflips, twisters, and sex changes. After this, I worked on some harder stuff. 360 flips, 360s, big spin flips, and twister flips. Currently I am working on 360 flip (turning with it), laser flips, and oh so many other tricks.

As for what you should learn, I think it’s pretty obvious in the beginning. It wont happen over night. This article makes it sound like I just went out and was able to land the tricks, but it took me a long time. Especially long for certain ones! After you can do kickflips and heelflips, it’s hare to say which direction is right for you to go in.

One thing I will say is that you shouldn’t avoid trying everything. I like skating almost everything. Try park skating, try ramps, try half pipe, try stairs, gaps, rails, street, flatland, tech, manual, fakie, switch, longboard, etc… Try it all, because there might be something out there you really like and just don’t know it yet!

I would say a good basic skateboard tricks list would be:

• Ollie
• Shove It
• FS 180
• Kickflip
• Heelflip
• Variel Flip
• BS 180
• FS Shove It

After this you’ll know what to work on. This list should keep you busy this year though, ha ha! Good luck and I hope you’re learning quickly. Remember to have fun and don’t take things too seriously!
